5 Ways to Recover After the Holidays

Nov 01, 2018

Well Halloween has come and gone, can you believe it?  Most of us start buying candy and stocking up well before Halloween night.  Which means we either have been fighting the urge to eat candy while staring at it… or indulging in a piece here and there throughout the day.  Or maybe you bought your favorite childhood candy and you have been indulging more than just a piece here and there?  Guilt trip aside – then we head to work, or trunk-or-treats where the candy is just flowing from everywhere and all the sudden we are wondering, what the hell happened to our self-control?  I can’t stop thinking about the deliciously sugary treats, let alone stop eating them!  And I think we all might be guilty to some degree!

You are not alone, and it is time for all of us to clean it up and clear out the candy.  Halloween is a small preview to the holiday treats ahead.  If we continue down this path, Thanksgiving and Christmas will creep...

Early Riser Egg Muffins

Oct 25, 2018

The meal people struggle with most: breakfast.  Whether its grabbing something quick like a muffin and your coffee because you woke up late and you are too busy getting everyone else ready in the morning, or you have never been a breakfast person and the thought of waking up and eating something makes you want to gag… and if you reached for a piece of fruit instead of the muffin, that’s still not cutting it!

If that describes your typical breakfast situation, you aren't alone, as most people struggle with this.  Starting your morning off with nothing to eat usually puts you in a state of unbearable hunger later in the day, and you wonder why you keep going for the dessert after dinner!?  Maybe it's a "sweet tooth", maybe it's because you didn't set your body up for success for the day by skipping breakfast. Either way, when you start your day off rushed and on the go with a muffin (or a piece of fruit!) in one hand a large coffee in the other, you...

Goal Getta'

Sep 13, 2018

When we say the words "I CAN'T", what responses does our brain come up with?

  • I CAN’T have the body I desire = You will never achieve this, so why try?!
  • CAN’T eat that = Fuck it, I am a grown ass adult and I can eat whatever the hell I want! (Cue the pizza, fries and chocolate)
  • CAN’T run a mile = You are going to fail, might as well quit before you even start!
  • CAN’T meal prep = Eating out is more   It's not important to me, my health or my goals.

When we are in a constant state of saying "I can't", we miss out on opportunities before they even present themselves.  We put ourselves down before we even give ourselves permission to TRY, which is one of the most common mistakes I see amongst my clients.  You become what you believe.  Expectations without belief will leave you in a standstill, feeling frustrated, inadequate and defeated.  To succeed we must first believe that we...

How Allergies to Antibiotics Affected my Health

Sep 06, 2018

As a child I grew up with a few health issues, one being major digestive issues.  I would have to be force fed antibiotics, primarily because I hated them and because they would make me vomit, give me rashes, cause me abdominal pain, and so forth.  Being so young I couldn't always communicate when something wasn't right but trying one medication after another my parents quickly learned that I was allergic to many types of antibiotics (as if I wasn't already being difficult enough with my health issues lol).  Penicillin, amoxicillin, erythromycin, ceftin, cefzil, anything that contained sulfa – you name it I was allergic to it.  You can imagine my Mom did everything she could to just keep me from getting severely sick so that we didn't have to deal with the repercussions of not being able to take certain antibiotics.

The side effects of my allergies to medications were severe and made an impact on my life as an adult navigating my health.  I...

HOW I BECAME WHO I AM TODAY

Aug 30, 2018

As I start writing this post I had to stop for a little woo-saaa moment.  I have meditated over the thought of telling my story for a LONG time, thinking I really didn't have much of a story, and the bit that I did have, I didn't feel the need to share.  Thoughts would run through my head, "everyone goes through their own shit, yours is no different" or "your story doesn't make you special" – you know, the super nice chatter we listen to or as Melissa Amberosini calls it, "our inner mean girl."  I came to the realization that everyone does go through their own shit, and if I’m comfortable with my story, I can be relatable and help others through their journey.  I don't claim to have it all together when I meet my clients, and I am the first to admit my weaknesses, so they know that they aren't alone in their struggles.

I had a good childhood with a loving family growing up.  I was a competitive athlete growing up, which meant I...

CHOCOLATE MOUSSE

Aug 23, 2018

(VEGAN & VEGETARIAN FRIENDLY)

One of my favorite things to bring to a social gathering is dessert.  Being a holistic health coach and personal trainer, people always assume that I would never indulge in dessert, WRONG!  I love a chocolaty dessert just as much as the next woman, especially in that time of the month!  I am always tempted to eat desserts when they are around at a party, so I know if I bring a quality dessert, I’m less likely to be tempted by unhealthy options and I will have something that I don't have to feel guilty about.

This chocolate mousse recipe is to die for!  It is rich and your one serving will leave you feeling satiated, full and of course just like most ladies that have had their chocolate fix, happy!  It is full of healthy fats, protein, fiber, antioxidants, iron, magnesium, and does not contain processed sugars! Cacao powder has natural elements that have been found to have incredible benefits...
